Jojo- Photographic Artist
Jojo's current practice explores identity, masculinity and personal reflections. More than anything it is a personal investigation into what it means to be Jojo. While his work is often humorous, he takes the constructing of it very seriously, referencing art and photography history as well as his own observations and feelings. He creates primarily within his photography studio in Plymouth.
In 1998 he won the Social Category of The Fuji Student Awards.
He has a Theatre Directing Diploma, a Degree in Screen Studies and Theatre Studies and MAs in Contemporary Film Practice and Photography .
In addition to his photographic practice, he has been a Theatre Director, Newspaper Columnist and TV Broadcaster, (and much else besides).
His work has been exhibited in a group show at the Preus Museum in Norway and in a three month solo show at Plymouth City Museum as well as in galleries across the UK and in Berlin.
He was awarded a place on the REDEYE/ AOP GRADUATE MENTORING SCHEME in 2024 and shortlisted for the INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE with BBA GALLERY in Berlin in 2023.
He has self-published 7 Photobooks to date.
Jojo's current desire is to complete his transition from being a creative photographer with a local audience to a photographic artist with an international one.
Jojo is thrilled to have been awarded an Arts Council England grant (2025/26) to develop his practice.
